About the role

The Facility Buyer, located in Bridgeport, Alabama, is responsible for procuring goods and services essential for the operation, maintenance, and improvement of the manufacturing plant. This role emphasizes identifying and delivering cost savings across all facility purchases and supports Capital Expense (CapEx) projects through partnership with Project Managers. The Facility Buyer also contributes to improving working capital by optimizing storeroom inventory levels, ensuring best value, quality, compliance, and innovation in all procurement activities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver cost savings and benefits through value creation, supplier consolidation, and contract negotiations for facility-related goods and services.
• Support CapEx projects by collaborating with Engineering, Maintenance, and Project Management teams to source equipment, contractors, and services for plant expansions, upgrades, and new installations.
• Lead the end-to-end procurement process for routine facility needs and capital projects, including RFP/RFQ preparation, supplier evaluation, and contract management.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to secure optimal value, quality, and project timelines.
• Monitor, track, and report on cost savings and project procurement milestones to stakeholders and management.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and contractors, ensuring performance and alignment with Ferroglobe’s strategic goals.
• Conduct supplier audits and scorecard evaluations with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
• Develop expertise in supplier markets and interpret trends to increase value across Ferroglobe.
• Partner with Maintenance and Operations teams to analyze usage patterns, set inventory min/max levels, and implement inventory management best practices.
• Improve working capital by optimizing storeroom inventory levels, minimizing excess and obsolete stock while ensuring critical supplies are available.
• Monitor and report on inventory turnover and stock levels, recommending actions to reduce carrying costs and improve cash flow.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, CapEx approval processes, and relevant legal/regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier agreements, especially for CapEx spend tracking and audit purposes.
• Support sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement projects in procurement.
• Develop and maintain close relationships with internal stakeholders and serve as the first point of contact for escalation of sourcing and supply chain issues.
• Share best practices across the Procurement organization and demonstrate leadership in driving challenging objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field. Equivalent experience considered.
• 6+ years of procurement or purchasing experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Advanced experience with MS Office tools.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering cost savings and supporting capital projects.
• Strong negotiation, planning, and coordination skills.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and a commitment to process compliance.
• Strong background with SAP and procurement systems (e.g., Ariba, Coupa) preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally with teams.
