About the Role

The Buyer shapes evo’s product assortment, vendor relationships, and overall business strategy. Working across departments, this role crafts assortment strategies that align with customer preferences, drive revenue growth, and enhance brand loyalty. The Buyer oversees the end-to-end buying process—from writing orders and managing inventory to negotiating terms with vendors and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include executing pricing and promotional strategies, analyzing market trends, and contributing to business success by achieving revenue, margin, and inventory performance goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement product assortment strategies that align with customer preferences and budget, ensuring an exceptional customer experience.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong vendor relationships, negotiating discounts, terms, and identifying growth opportunities to enhance the product lineup.
  • Manage the complete buying cycle, including writing orders, overseeing reorders, cancellations, and closeouts, achieving vendor deadlines for optimal discounts and payment terms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute pricing strategies, promotional campaigns, and markdown cadence to meet sales margin objectives.
  • Analyze industry trends to identify opportunities for introducing new brands and products to market, keeping evo at the forefront of industry trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Planning, Marketing, Store, and Digital Content to develop seasonal assortment plans and ensure cohesive strategies.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Assistant Buyers and Data Specialists, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Monitor sales performance, manage inventory positions, and propose adjustments as needed to achieve margin goals and meet business objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Preferably located in Seattle, WA.
  • 5 years of experience in buying, merchandising, or a related field, with a strong track record of successfully managing product assortments and vendor relationships.
  • Proven strong analytical and effective negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure while remaining flexible and adaptive to changing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
  • Keen attention to detail and strong organization skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Passion for snow sports, mountain biking, and the outdoors.

Pay

The base wage for this role ranges from $60,000 to $95,500 per year, depending on skills and experience. Internal pay equity is also considered. While the full range is listed, hiring typically occurs below the top of the range to allow for professional and financial growth.
