About the role

ESCO Maritime Solutions is a world leader in Signature Management and Power Conversion solutions for the US and UK naval defense market. Our solutions enable critical mission system capabilities and increase naval stealth on submarine and surface ship platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising, for establishment.
  • Input purchase requisitions into ERP system for purchase order generation (data entry).
  • Review requisitions and confer with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery with vendors.
  • Request quotes from vendors (RFQs) for items on purchase requisitions or in support of bids and proposals.
  • Monitor purchase orders to ensure acknowledgements are received and recorded to guarantee timely delivery of purchased items in support of production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Prepare purchase orders or bid requests.
  • Work with the Engineering department to compile procurement specifications for specialized equipment and services.
  • Work closely with the Quality department to ensure goods are purchased to the right quality requirements.
  • Work with outside consultants for purchase orders.
  • Coordinate effectively between internal departments and vendors.
  • Ensure contract conditions are applied, including specific flow downs where appropriate, working with the Contracts department.
  • Identify appropriate sources of supply to meet contract needs.
  • Manage supplier order books and effectively expedite and prioritize orders to ensure goods/services are available to the manufacturing team at the right time.
  • Work in line with the Production Planner to minimize inventory levels and improve overall supply chain management.
  • Provide cover for other members of the Purchasing team as required.
  • Work closely with the stockroom.
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably required by Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 5+ years relevant work experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized with self-sufficient time management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, and innovative behaviors in past projects, roles, or experiences.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and ERP systems.
  • This position requires either a US Person or a non-US Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.

Skills

  • Supply chain experience for an aerospace and/or Defense Company (desired).
  • Procurement experience in a manufacturing environment (desired).
  • Supply Chain or Procurement experience (desired).
  • FAR/DFARS or government contracts experience (desired).
  • Epicor ERP system preferred (desired).
  • Familiarity with drawings (desired).
  • Understanding of MRP systems (desired).
  • Experience with MS Office including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint (desired).
  • Strong problem-solving skills (desired).
