Job Summary
The Buyer is responsible for acquiring goods and services at a competitive price, with on-time delivery and top quality via issuance of a purchase order. The Buyer will assist more senior buyers and perform a range of activities associated with purchasing goods, materials, suppliers, and services based on established quality standards, availability requirements and price constraints.
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES
- Makes daily purchases within allotted programs based on requisitions and analyzes the quality, specifications and delivery requirements.
- Sends out quotations for bid on non-contracted items and negotiates best price.
- Enters purchase orders into system and issues to supplier via fax or email.
- Reviews purchase orders on a weekly basis via reporting system and follows up on past due items plus requirements due in coming weeks.
- HIGHLIGHTS any problem areas and reports to the Purchasing Supervisor.
- Interacts with Planning and Production to ensure any changes in production requirements are flowed down to suppliers.
- Generates effective communication, good relationships, and a positive image with suppliers and co-workers promoting courtesy, objectivity and fairness.
- Liaises with planners to control scheduling of parts to ensure stock levels meet demands while staying within stock level buffers.
- Reviews Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) written against suppliers and relays such information to them and coordinates corrective action.
- Updates suppliers with engineering changes and drawings.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Maintains a safe, secure and legal work environment, adhering to all Company policies and procedures.
- Maintains and protects the confidentiality of the Company’s information and products.
Education
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- A Bachelor’s degree is desired.

Supervision Provided to the Position
- Direction with necessary guidance is provided in terms of tasks and craftsmanship and measured based upon how well tasks have been completed.
- Receives detailed instructions as needed.

- The base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, experience and take into account internal equity.
- Salary Range Transparency: $82,000 - $103,000 annually.
