About the role

The Buyer Direct will coordinate activities involved with procuring direct materials, components and equipment. They will maintain relations with suppliers, place orders, receive and handle confirmations, check purchase orders, track shipments, manage inventory, handle purchasing data privacy, assure active components, conduct quarterly supplier reviews, and maintain procurement records.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain relations with the suppliers.
  • Place orders for necessary raw materials and purchased parts according to the requirements of the production.
  • Receive and handle the confirmations.
  • Check the purchase orders and modify them according to the changes in the production plan with the help of the Shortage List and the Open Purchase Order List.
  • Track shipments, urge them if needed.
  • Regularly check the stocks, avoid overstock.
  • Minimize the risk of obsolescence with the help of the weekly check of the obsolete report.
  • Correspond with the freight forwarders, warehouses, and organize transportation.
  • Deal with claims, settle debit and credit issues.
  • Filing and recording all necessary documents.
  • Check the inventory of critical materials (personally if needed).
  • Get in touch with the right warehouse personnel and have the discrepancy modified if there is any inventory discrepancies.
  • Handle purchasing data privacy.
  • Assure all active components according to production needs, in time, for the agreed price in the request.
  • Reviews requisitions and MRP output.
  • Confer with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Orders, reschedules, and cancels material based on requisitions and MRP output.
  • Manages supplier to price, delivery, and quality expectations and escalates when appropriate.
  • Investigate inventory levels.
  • Maintains procurement records such as items purchased, costs, delivery, and inventories.
  • Monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle.
  • Conducts quarterly supplier reviews.
  • Maintains procurement records, reports, and metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of procurement experience.

Qualifications

  • Use of the following tools may be required: Working usage of Word, Excel, and Power Point, ERP software (Kinaxis, Atlas, etc.).
  • Prior experience with Electrical commodities.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical commodities.
