At G&L Tube LLC, a division of AeroFlow Technologies, we specialize in creating complex tube and duct assemblies using high-performance materials capable of withstanding extreme pressure, temperature, and chemical interactions. Our products are used in NASA’s Space Launch System and F-35 fighter jets.

About the role

As a Buyer, you will coordinate and expedite the flow of primary raw materials (sheet), negotiate pricing and lead times, and collaborate with departments and vendors to manage efficient material flow. You will also maintain supplier performance metrics for on-time delivery and quality.

Responsibilities

• Interface with suppliers to ensure efficient primary material flow.
• Work closely with Sales to align on forecasted customer needs.
• Manage the purchase process for spot-buy materials to optimize pricing and delivery.
• Coordinate strip releases to primary suppliers (contracted).
• Follow up and track scheduled material deliveries; expedite with vendors as needed.
• Compile and maintain accurate records of raw materials in manual or computerized systems.
• Oversee incoming and warehousing operations; coordinate material movement to/from offsite warehouses.
• Manage budgets for resources under your jurisdiction.
• Prepare and distribute reports related to materials for relevant personnel.
• Safeguard inventory assets in collaboration with Finance and Operations.
• Analyze and control raw material flow by size and alloy to meet forecasted demand.
• Monitor and react to changes in demand from Sales.
• Track supplier lead times (mills and service centers) and agreed-upon inventory levels.
• Set and measure goals for optimizing material flow and inventory turns.
• Create purchase orders, obtain approvals, and submit to vendors.
• Ensure materials for special projects are acquired at project pricing to maintain margins.
• Track pounds of special project material received by project.
• Monitor market pricing for spot-buy alloys to support knowledgeable negotiations.
• Balance price and volume on spot-buy products with Sales and customer needs.
• Maintain the Approved Supplier List.
• Establish policies and procedures to safeguard inventory assets (quality and physical security).
• Perform inventory counts to ensure accuracy in-house and offsite; develop systematic cycle counting.
• Develop and implement procedures for Excess and Obsolete inventory.
• Work with Quality Manager to disposition and return non-conforming material to suppliers within 30 days.
• Negotiate payment terms and credit approvals with spot-buy suppliers in collaboration with the CFO.
• Manage consignment inventories.
• Ensure acceptable Quality Systems are in place for all suppliers with the Quality Manager.
• Maintain and distribute Supplier Performance Metrics for on-time delivery and quality.
• Hold suppliers accountable for performance and obtain corrective actions as needed.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Material/Operations Planning.
• Degree preferred.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma Methodologies and Lean Manufacturing.
