Busser / Server Assistant

About the Role

Assist food servers in bussing and re-setting tables in assigned stations, maintain ongoing dining room and restroom cleanliness, and perform general restaurant maintenance. Duties may include refilling non-alcoholic beverages, serving bread/chips or other specified food items, and cleaning designated areas such as the dining room, building exterior, entrance, and restrooms.

Responsibilities

• Complete all designated cleaning, stocking, and maintenance duties per established timelines.
• Assist servers in bussing and re-setting tables in assigned stations.
• Maintain assigned areas (e.g., restrooms, restaurant entrance, service stations, building exterior) during service periods.
• Perform pre-shift, running shift, and post-shift set-up, prep, cleaning, and stocking as outlined by management and company standards.
• Work in a team environment and assist other bus people/team members as needed.
• Demonstrate a good working knowledge of the restaurant, including hours, directions, menu, payment policies, and take-out programs.
• Acknowledge guests as they leave and invite them to return.
• Ensure a harassment-free environment through proper personal conduct.
• Uphold safety and security standards at all times.
• Complete assigned weekly cleaning projects.
• Maintain a professional restaurant image, including cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
• Perform other job duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

• Minimum 6 months of experience working in a full-service restaurant (any position preferred).
• 6 months to 1 year of experience as a busperson in a full-service restaurant.
• Must understand chemicals used in the work environment.
• Ability to work well with limited supervision but interact effectively with other team members.
• Must meet all federal, state, county, or municipal regulations pertaining to food and beverage service.

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds continuously during the shift.
• Ability to move and operate in the work area, including stooping, twisting the upper body, and handling small, heavy objects (e.g., plates, silverware, glassware).
• Able to speak clearly and listen attentively to guests and employees.
