Busser I

Under direct supervision of the Food & Beverage Supervisor, the Busser I sets tables with clean linens and silverware, removes soiled dishes, glassware, and silverware from tables, and maintains cleanliness of side stations, floors, furniture, and restrooms. This role requires adherence to Title 4 (Arizona liquor law), Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise (TOGE) alcohol training, and all TOGE internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently stock all items needed for service in server side stations.
• Train new team members.
• Properly clear soiled plates, glassware, silverware, and shell baskets to dish stations by running bus carts to the kitchen, ensuring they are emptied, cleaned, and returned immediately.
• Attend to guests, respond to additional requests, and maintain knowledge of service standards.
• Uphold all Tribal, City, State, and Federal Health/Food Safety codes.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work area in compliance with TOGE, tribal, City, State, and Federal health/food safety regulations.
• Keep side stations, including floors, sanitary and organized.
• Operate bus carts safely and sanitarily while maneuvering through the kitchen and dining room.
• Clear dirty plates, glasses, silverware, napkins, food, and beverage debris from tables, chairs, and bases.
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the entire work area.
• Perform all opening, running, and closing Busser side work.
• Clear all table surfaces within 5 minutes of guests’ departure.
• Reset dining room tables according to tabletop standards.
• Polish silverware and glassware, preparing them for use.
• Complete side work assigned by Food & Beverage Management.
• Maintain strong communication skills with team members and guests, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
• Demonstrate courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of guests and team members as a representative of the casino.
• Provide a positive dining experience for guests.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, including seating guests, bussing and setting tables, and keeping the floor clear of debris.
• Demonstrate Desert Diamond Casino’s “On Brand” attitude toward team members and guests at all times.
• Support and reinforce Desert Diamond Casino’s Spirit of Service Standards.
• Travel between Desert Diamond Casino properties may be required.
• Maintain proper attendance in accordance with Casino policy.
• Remain flexible to assume other responsibilities assigned by management as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred, plus some experience in the restaurant, kitchen, or dining area field.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No felony, theft, or stealing convictions.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, and obtain and maintain a gaming license.
• Knowledge of dining and food maintenance operations.
• Knowledge of food service.
• Strong communication skills; ability to read and write clearly in basic English.
• Ability to demonstrate outstanding guest service at all times.
• Professional appearance and ability to service guests in a professional manner.
• Commitment to following internal controls consistently.
• Ability to obtain a Food Handlers card.
• Ability to obtain TIPS certification.
• Ability to successfully pass Busser I Skill Set testing.
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a stressful, busy environment.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
• Frequently required to walk.
• Occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

• Work is generally performed in kitchen areas, banquet areas, with exposure to heat, cold, fumes, steam, second-hand smoke, and high noise levels.
• Evenings, graveyards, holidays, and/or weekend work are required.
• Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
