About the role

Crown Beverage Packaging, a subsidiary of Crown Holdings, Inc., is located in La Crosse, WI. The plant is situated near the Mississippi River and is close to major highways and the La Crosse Airport.

Responsibilities

  • Operates automatic Palletizer/De-palletizer equipment within the plant.
  • Ensures quality of finished packages by placing cans correctly on pallets according to customer orders, manually inserting cans to complete layer patterns, and removing minor jams and reporting major jams or irregularities to the Maintenance or Supervision.
  • Recognizes can defects, follows procedures for defect recognition and communication, and documents information on cans (50 per hour).
  • Communicates with lift drivers regarding supply needs and defective supplies.
  • Maintains logs of production and downtime, spoilage as required.
  • Uses a computerized system to make labels (tickets) for pallets.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and housekeeping tasks, including cleaning the Palletizer, plungers, and fingers.
  • Ensures compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) at all times.
  • Maintains awareness of equipment or process issues and reports them to supervision.
  • Keeps the work area safe, clean, and organized.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in inspecting/packaging and/or high-speed manufacturing.
  • Must possess a mechanical aptitude.
  • Available to work 12-hour shifts, rotating 4 days on/4 days off schedule, which may include holidays, weekends, or nights.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly stands, walks, uses hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reaches with hands and arms.
  • Frequently climbs or balances.
  • Stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

  • Generally works in a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
  • Exposed to a wide range of temperatures, especially in the summer and winter months.
  • The noise level is frequently loud.
