Business Tax Associate
About the role
McGuireWoods seeks an associate with at least three years of law firm tax experience to join its Business Tax Group. This is an opportunity to work with a nationally recognized transactional tax team on sophisticated domestic and cross-border business transactions for public and private companies, private equity funds, investment banks, family offices, fund sponsors, nonprofit organizations, and other leading market participants.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with partners whose practices span corporate, partnership, international, fund, nonprofit, and tax credit matters.
- Advising clients on the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, buyouts, restructurings, joint ventures, private equity transactions, tax credit investments, fund formations, financings, and inbound and outbound international investments.
- Collaborate with the firm’s corporate, private equity, finance, and investment funds practices to deliver practical, business-oriented advice.
- Manage multiple ongoing transactions in a demanding deal environment, analyzing complex tax issues, drafting and negotiating tax provisions, and preparing tax memoranda.
Requirements
- Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience as a tax associate in a law firm.
- Must be able to work in a high-paced environment with multiple ongoing transactions.
- Strong academic credentials, including an LL.M. in taxation, are strongly preferred.
- Willingness and desire to work with innovative technology platforms.
