About the role
The Business Strategy & Execution Lead is a promotional opportunity for Senior Business Analysts who demonstrate strong consultative, analytical, and cross-functional leadership skills. This role focuses on helping business stakeholders define operational needs, assess opportunities, shape strategic initiatives, and engage effectively with Digital Services. Serving as a liaison between business units and Digital Services, the role evaluates business performance, operational effectiveness, and coordinates cross-functional efforts to align with business priorities.
The Business Strategy & Execution Lead supports Underwriting, Claims, and Billing & Collections business units, as well as strategic initiatives across Surplus & Specialty Lines (SSL). SSL underwrites admitted and non-admitted business for General Liability, Automobile Liability, Workers Compensation, Property, Inland Marine, and Excess/Umbrella lines across industries such as Contracting, Energy, Security, and Environmental.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand goals, operational priorities, financial objectives, and emerging needs.
- Assess operational, financial, workflow, service, user experience, market, and performance-related challenges to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of business performance, portfolio results, workflow effectiveness, service levels, and stakeholder feedback.
- Analyze producer, broker, segment, platform, process, book-of-business, distribution, and digital capability performance for effectiveness and profitability.
- Evaluate broker, underwriter, stakeholder, and user experiences to improve ease of doing business and satisfaction.
- Develop data-informed recommendations to enhance operational efficiency, effectiveness, user experience, and profitability.
- Define success measures, KPIs, and reporting approaches for strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
- Present findings, insights, tradeoffs, and recommendations to support decision-making and prioritization.
- Monitor the impact of implemented changes and recommend refinements based on results and feedback.
- Translate business goals, operational findings, and strategic priorities into actionable initiatives and measurable outcomes.
- Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and Digital Services to ensure clarity on priorities, dependencies, and desired outcomes.
- Support roadmap planning by assessing dependencies, sequencing, business impacts, and readiness needs.
- Convert current-state business processes into planning inputs for solution evaluation and prioritization.
- Collaborate with business, Digital Services, and IT stakeholders in planning and design activities for new applications and process improvements.
- Participate in research of third-party software products, platforms, or services to support purchase or integration decisions.
- Define initiative scope, objectives, milestones, communication approaches, and success measures.
- Structure business priorities into execution plans and lead coordination across cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with project teams to manage timelines, milestones, dependencies, and status reporting.
- Track and manage risks, issues, dependencies, and decisions, including mitigation and escalation.
- Facilitate coordination across business, Digital Services, and IT teams to ensure alignment on scope and delivery.
- Support documentation of business requirements, process flows, and systems impacts.
- Provide status updates, meeting notes, action logs, and process documentation.
- Coordinate testing activities, including quality assurance, performance testing, and user acceptance testing.
- Monitor progress against scope, timeline, KPIs, and business objectives; escalate risks or gaps proactively.
- Assist in change management activities, including communication, training, and adoption support.
- Lead post-implementation reviews to evaluate results, identify lessons learned, and recommend improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of specialized experience.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in business analysis, strategic delivery, consulting, or related roles.
- Experience in P&C, Specialty, or Commercial Insurance is highly preferred.
- Experience supporting the planning, analysis, execution, and implementation of business initiatives or technology-enabled solutions.
- Ability to operate in ambiguous environments, structure complex problems, and synthesize information from multiple sources.
- Demonstrated experience providing strategic business analysis, consultative problem-solving, and delivery coordination.
- Advanced understanding of insurance workflows, systems, operational processes, and P&C insurance products and distribution models.
- Ability to analyze business performance, portfolio results, operational effectiveness, and profitability data to drive recommendations.
- Proven ability to organize complex work into actionable plans and manage risks, issues, and stakeholder communications.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build trust without formal authority.
- Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize in fast-moving environments.
- Understanding of business analysis practices, including requirements gathering, testing, and change management.
- Familiarity with SDLC, Agile, Scrum, SAFe, Waterfall, policy administration platforms, rating tools, and analytics/BI tools is preferred.
