Treeswift is transforming how energy companies manage infrastructure by deploying AI-powered sensor systems on backpacks and vehicles to collect LiDAR and imagery data. Our models convert this data into actionable intelligence, reducing wildfire, outage, and regulatory risks from vegetation, preventing cost overruns on new construction, and accelerating storm recovery. Since our first utility pilot in June 2024, we’ve partnered with three of the five largest U.S. utilities. Backed by leading investors like Penny Pritzker’s Inspired Capital, our team brings experience from Penn, Caltech, CMU, Palantir, Stripe, MongoDB, and Oracle. Headquartered in lower Manhattan with offices in Philadelphia and field presence nationwide, we’re tackling a high-impact problem with significant growth ahead.

About the role

We’re hiring a Business Operations Associate to join a small, high-performing team responsible for operational systems and cross-functional workstreams that keep the company running and enable scalability. Reporting to the Head of Business Operations, this early-career role is ideal for a highly analytical generalist eager to become an exceptional startup operator. You’ll gain broad exposure across finance, people operations, legal, vendor management, internal systems, and strategic projects, with scope expanding quickly as you demonstrate judgment and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day operational workflows across finance, legal, people operations, vendor management, and internal systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Build analyses, financial models, dashboards, and decision materials to support leadership on budgeting, hiring, vendor, and strategic decisions.
  • Coordinate cross-functional projects from kickoff to completion, driving alignment, accountability, and execution.
  • Improve operational efficiency by documenting processes, building lightweight automations, and identifying workflow optimizations.
  • Manage and maintain core business systems (e.g., Notion, Justworks, Google Drive) with a focus on accuracy, organization, and scalability.
  • Take ownership of high-priority, fast-moving projects, using sound judgment to solve problems and drive results independently.

Requirements

  • Typically 1-3 years of full-time experience in strategy, finance, or operations at a fast-growing technology company (investment banking or management consulting also considered).
  • Strong quantitative and spreadsheet skills (Excel/Google Sheets), including structuring analyses from incomplete inputs and clearly explaining conclusions.
  • Excellent written communication, able to distill messy information into concise, decision-ready output.
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and follow-through across multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • High agency and resourcefulness: ability to make progress without perfect instructions and discern when additional context is needed.
  • Sound judgment about when to recommend, ask questions, or escalate issues.
  • Discretion with confidential financial, legal, people, customer, or company information.
  • Willingness to handle both analytical work and detailed operational follow-through.
  • Comfort with rapid context switching, direct feedback, and a fast-moving, high-accountability environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience at an early-stage startup, especially building operational processes, improving internal systems, or managing cross-functional projects.
  • Exposure to utilities, energy, infrastructure, hardware, or other regulated industries.
  • Experience with vegetation management, forestry, geospatial data, or related technical domains.

Benefits

  • Treeswift equity.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Unlimited vacation policy and company holidays.
  • Life insurance (basic, supplemental, and dependent).
  • Short-term and long-term disability leave.
  • Company-paid parental leave.
  • Retirement savings (Traditional and Roth 401K plans).

Pay

The estimated base salary range for this role is $125,000 to $140,000. Final compensation is determined by skills, experience, qualifications, and location, and does not include bonuses, benefits, or long-term incentives. This range complies with the New York City Human Rights Law and applies to NYC-based roles; compensation may vary for candidates outside NYC.
