About the role
Responsible for accurate, timely and complete documentation regarding insurance verification, billing and collections.
Responsibilities
- Audit admission packets and verify benefits along with all patient demographic information in the patient accounting system.
- Provide financial counseling to patients and/or guarantors, collecting out-of-pocket expenses (deductibles, copays, exhausted days, etc.).
- Inform patients and/or guarantors about their benefits and financial obligations.
- Complete financial disclosure paperwork for patients requesting assistance, including verifying income and expenses.
- Complete adjustment forms for charity or administrative adjustments for approval.
- Complete promissory notes for patients requesting payment arrangements.
- Update the upfront collection log, charity log, and admin adjustment log daily; review with BOD on a weekly basis.
- Gather and interpret data from the system, determine the appropriate course of action, and initiate time-sensitive and strategic steps to secure payment.
- Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Three or more years' experience in a related field required.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of Commercial Insurance and Medicare/Medicaid required.
