Business Development$165k–$188k/yrFull-time

Responsibilities

  • Mine our search and conversion funnel to identify markets with high demand but low conversion — the markets where we're missing supply.
  • Quantify inventory gaps against competitors, including the price points and property profiles we lack.
  • Define the profile of inventory worth acquiring, accounting for real-world availability.
  • Design and build automated pipelines that identify target listings, source contact information for property-management companies and individual hosts, enrich and de-duplicate that data, and trigger automated outreach.
  • Stand up and iterate on these workflows hands-on, including in Salesforce.
  • Own the supply-acquisition funnel end to end — build the lead pipeline, define qualification criteria, set and improve conversion benchmarks, and route prospects to self-serve onboarding or to a BD salesperson.
  • Continuously tune the workflow to lift conversion.
  • Build the reporting, dashboards, triggers, and tooling that make the market-management and BD teams successful, and define the operating process across the function.
  • Work closely with product, market management, business development, marketing, finance, and data partners to turn supply strategy into shipped, measurable outcomes.
  • Bring a strong quantitative orientation — query data directly (SQL), structure analyses, test hypotheses, and make decisions grounded in evidence rather than intuition.

    Qualifications

    • A builder-analyst hybrid: as comfortable in SQL and a conversion funnel as you are standing up an automated workflow.
    • Demonstrated experience building real AI/automation workflows — you can walk us through a workflow you built, the problem it solved, the time it saved, and the stack you used.
    • A track record of growing high-volume lead generation — sourcing, qualifying, and converting at scale (SMB/individual, not enterprise relationship sales), ideally where you replaced a manual or cold-calling process with a technology-driven pipeline.
    • Marketplace or two-sided supply experience: you've helped acquire a hard-to-find supply side at volume (e.g., drivers, couriers, hosts, sellers, service pros).
    • Scrappy, ownership-minded, and energized by ambiguity and 0→1 work.
    • Strategic leadership: Develop business strategies that will drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One in the face of shifting consumer and regulatory demands.
    • Leadership: May manage and develop 1-2 analysts.
    • Coaching and mentoring associates with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Capital One.
    • Product: Develop and implement new product and pricing strategies for various lending products; lead product level modeling/analytics.
    • Marketing: Lead direct-to-consumer marketing efforts for select products, and strategic intent for products distributed through the retail channel.
    • Sales operations: Build the reporting, dashboards, triggers, and tooling that make the market-management and BD teams successful, and define the operating process across the function.
    • Cross-functional partnership: Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including: IT, Sales, Operations, Finance and others to drive improvement in quality, volume, service, and profitability.
    • Strategic & analytic orientation: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics.
    • Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation, given that a large part of the business is based on rigorous analytic marketing & credit risk management.
    • Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: He/she should be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business.
    • Solid people leadership experience: Ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise.
    • Executive communication skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
    • Clear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals.
    • Ability to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment.
    • Previous consulting experience is a plus.
    • Basic Qualifications: At least 3 years of professional experience performing analysis.
    • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date:
      • A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer engineering, Software engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field).
