About the role
The Business Services team in the College of Arts and Sciences (ArtSci) at Utah State University is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Business Manager I to provide support to academic departments within the college.
Responsibilities
- Functions as a primary business resource to the Department Head, faculty, and staff in the assigned area.
- Manages daily financial operations for the department, including review and approval of financial transactions such as PCard reconciliation, purchasing, Banner financial activity, and travel processing.
- Covers financial aspects of proposals, contracts, grants, etc. Assists staff in administering proposals to ensure compliance with federal, state, and university policies.
- Maintains personnel actions such as hiring and EPAF requests and ensures payroll is accurately recorded and processed.
- May train, guide, and mentor business services staff (including students), as assigned.
- Maintains annual budgets for a wide variety of accounts and grants using proper accounting/budgeting methods and retains records of financial figures for comparison with estimated budget.
- Coordinates, designs, and implements financial/management systems for a wide variety of programs.
- Verifies scholarship funding and processes graduate assistantships, tuition awards, graduate insurance, and other sources of funding in accordance with university policies and procedures.
- Communicates and coordinates with other departments within and outside USU regarding financial matters.
- Reconciles and reviews financial statements monthly to ensure accuracy.
- Commits to integrity, performs duties with diligence in accordance with professional standards and enforces university policies and procedures.
- Uses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Serves in the interest of Utah State University in a lawful manner while maintaining high standards of conduct and character.
- Handles confidential information and manage projects effectively, and demonstrate reliability and strong work ethic.
- Provides customer service to faculty, staff, and students and campus community in a professional manner.
- Completes annual asset management for assigned units.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in a business field or an equivalent combination of education plus experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience using Banner, specifically the Finance and HR modules; Experience with EZ-Buy, procurement, and p-card processing; Experience with the Argos Reporting System; Experience with AggieTime and ServiceNow; Experience with Travel processes and procedures at USU; Experience working with tuition waivers/scholarship processes at USU; Knowledge of USU policies and procedures.
