Business Manager

About the role

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to our Toledo location. This position may offer relocation assistance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain awareness of quality standards, and communicates department quality goals, and utilizes resources to solve quality issues.
• Build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union and management.
• Understands and consistently administers the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union.
• Implements and follows systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues.
• Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping.
• Motivate, train and develop employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods.
• Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements.
• Able to deal with complex problems through practical problem solving, Op-Ex and other problem-solving methodologies.
• Seamlessly work with cross-functional teams and support both hourly and salary to remove roadblocks.
• Effective communication to lead meetings.
• Flexibility to cover vacation and absences in the team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Must be able to work a rotating shift, as needed.
• Must be able to work OT and weekends.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• Continuous Improvement or Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Assembly and Manufacturing Experience (Gear, Prismatic, Assembly).
• Ability to read and interpret Zeiss and M&M reports.

Skills

• Ability to deal with complex problems through practical problem solving, Op-Ex and other problem-solving methodologies.
• Flexibility to cover vacation and absences in the team.
