About the Role

The Business Manager 1 position manages all financial reporting, budgeting, contracts, and collection of funds for the Athletic Department.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Annual Athletic Operating Budget: Coordinate with coaches and staff to prepare individual sport operating budgets. Gather information from USG comptroller, Vice Presidents of Business and Student Services, financial aid, budget director, and athletic director for revenue and expense planning. Present and discuss the athletic operating budget with USG Athletic committee, officers, coaches, and staff. Distribute the final approved budget to all relevant parties.
  • Monitor and Control Revenue and Expenditures: Review monthly financial statements to identify surpluses or deficits within each sport and administrative area. Approve purchase requests, invoices, checks, travel requests, and miscellaneous expenditures daily. Review and approve contracts for maintenance, transportation, advertising, and insurance. Evaluate and update athletic administrative procedures in accordance with USG, PBC, and NCAA rules. Prepare and submit budget amendments and journal entries to maintain accurate financial reports.
  • Coordinate Collection of Revenue: Maintain an accounting method to reconcile gate receipts with ticket sales. Coordinate billing and receipts for advertising revenue, Jaguar Club memberships, and travel advances. Review game contracts for collection of guarantees. Request and monitor fund transfers from the USG foundation for scholarships and other funds. Monitor fundraiser collections via agency accounts and reconcile.
  • Coordinate Athletic Grant-in-Aid: Work with coaches, compliance officer, Athletic Director, and Financial Aid Office to process athletic scholarships. Review each scholarship amount per program's budget. Maintain records of scholarship awards and assist financial aid, bookstore, and business office with inquiries.
  • Prepare Financial Reports: Submit accurate and complete financial data to NCAA, PBC, USG, and other groups in a timely manner. Review data with the Athletic Director before external submission. Plan, coordinate, and communicate group efforts with staff and coaches within athletics.
  • Other Responsibilities: Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or a related discipline.
  • 2 years of administrative and management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Ability to understand financial statements and general accounting functions.

Skills

  • Knowledge: Standard accounting practices.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal/written communication, interpersonal, time-management, detail-oriented, and organizational skills.
  • Abilities: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer software/databases. Ability to exercise sound judgment, manage multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality. Ability to work in a team environment.

Pay

Salary: $62,300.00/annually. Salary to be commensurate with qualifications within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.

Schedule

Days; Monday-Friday. Work outside of normal business hours may be required.
