Key Responsibilities
- Territory & Agency Ownership
- Lead comprehensive agency management activities, including prospecting, business planning, engagement, training, compensation, and agency plant optimization.
- Manage a large and diverse agency footprint (100+ storefronts), optimizing performance across the territory.
Agency Partnership & Business Development
- Independently build and sustain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with agency owners, leadership, and frontline staff through primarily in-person engagement, supplemented by virtual and digital channels.
- Establish credibility as a trusted advisor by delivering product expertise, underwriting philosophy, appetite guidance, and system training.
- Support retention initiatives and new business development to deepen agency relationships and maximize revenue.
Commercial Lines & Portfolio Management
- Focus on commercial business lines, working across a broad range of products, coverages, and market appetite.
- Drive consistent flow of small commercial business while strategically engaging agents and brokers on targeted mid-to-larger accounts.
- Manage the account pipeline end-to-end, including renewals, and collaborate across multiple underwriting segments to ensure strong outcomes.
- Ensure appropriate book mix, risk quality, and overall profitability at both the agency and territory level.
Strategy, Execution & Analytics
- Develop, execute, and continuously refine high-quality agency and territory strategies aligned to enterprise Personal Lines and Business Lines priorities.
- Support strategic initiatives such as carrier consolidation (book transfers), agency expansion, service center integration, and new product or program rollouts.
- Utilize internal and external tools, programs, and data analytics to inform decisions, monitor performance, and identify growth opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner closely with underwriting, product management, claims, and risk control teams to identify opportunities, resolve issues, and share competitive and market intelligence.
- Act as the voice of the agent and customer within the organization.
- Collaborate with Personal Lines and Business Lines counterparts on shared agency relationships.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to peers and team members, contributing to continuous improvement and best practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing agency relationships and driving profitable growth within commercial insurance.
- Strong consultative, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while managing complex priorities.
- Comfort leveraging data, tools, and insights to guide territory and agency strategies.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory for in-person agency engagement.
