About the role

The Business Intelligence Specialist/Developer will design, develop, and maintain business intelligence solutions that transform curated data into meaningful insights and AI-enabled decision support. This role focuses on building semantic models, solutions, dashboards, and intelligent data experiences within Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, ensuring that data is accessible, accurate, governed, and aligned with business needs.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Design and build Power BI semantic models, reports, and dashboards, using Power BI Desktop and Fabric.
  • Create and maintain semantic models, including measures, calculations, and relationships using DAX, M, and Power Query.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineer to consume curated data from Fabric lakehouse/warehouse layers and ensure alignment with business logic.

  • Translate business requirements into functional reporting solutions, including KPIs, metrics, and dashboards.
  • Perform data validation and reconciliation to ensure reports are accurate and aligned with source systems.
  • Optimize report and dataset performance, including model design, query efficiency, and refresh strategies.
  • Manage Power BI workspaces, apps, and deployments, including security, access control, and environment separation (Dev/Test/Prod) through deployment pipelines.
  • Support and train end users and business teams on Power BI tools, reports, and self-service capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for datasets, reports, and reporting standards.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for improved reporting, automation, and insights.
  • Support governance initiatives, including dataset certification, naming standards, and report lifecycle management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of BI standards, templates, and best practices across the organization.
  • Design, develop, and maintain data agents and intelligent data experiences that enable users to interact with data through natural language, automation, and AI-assisted insights (e.g., Copilot, Fabric Data Agents, and similar technologies).
  • Guide business users toward agentic enterprise practices by identifying opportunities where AI agents, copilots, automated workflows, and governed data products can improve productivity, decision-making, and adoption of self-service analytics.
  • Design BI and data solutions that can be safely integrated into client-facing and vendor-facing technology experiences, ensuring usability, reliability, security, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, business, client service, and vendor management teams to ensure analytics and intelligent automation solutions support end-to-end business processes and external stakeholder needs.

Job requirements

  • Education & Experience
  • Preferred:
  • Experience working with Microsoft Fabric and enterprise semantic models.
  • Familiarity with lakehouse architecture and consuming curated data (bronze/silver/gold concepts).
  • Experience with Power Platform tools (Copilot Studio, Power Automate, Power Apps).
  • Experience with data governance and cataloging tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview).
  • Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., PCI, financial services).
  • Experience designing or supporting AI-enabled, client-facing, vendor-facing, or enterprise workflow solutions that require strong governance, usability, and cross-functional adoption.
