About the role

The Production Planning team at Amazon's North America Supply Chain ensures millions of packages are delivered daily through a network of over 300 fulfillment and sort centers. As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will build the analytics backbone that powers critical planning decisions, directly influencing how Amazon allocates tens of thousands of labor hours and millions of dollars in workforce spend. This high-ownership role involves transforming ambiguous business questions into actionable insights, building data pipelines, and delivering reliable data products that stakeholders depend on weekly.

Responsibilities

  • Own the development and maintenance of dashboards and automated reports that surface critical production planning metrics to stakeholders across the NASC network.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (NASC Operations, Workforce Staffing, Network Design and Planning, Regional Planning) to translate workforce planning questions into analytical frameworks and deliver actionable insights.
  • Design, build, and deploy data pipelines using Python, SQL, AWS Lambda, Athena, and Redshift. Proactively monitor pipeline health to ensure reliable and timely data delivery aligned with weekly planning cadences.
  • Build and maintain curated datasets as the single source of truth for capacity planning, including a centralized data lake with well-defined schemas, partition strategies, lineage documentation, and freshness SLAs.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to reduce manual data processing, enabling planners to focus on strategic decisions.
  • Maintain clear documentation of data sources, business logic, transformation rules, and dataset schemas.

A day in the life

You will monitor pipeline health, resolve data quality issues, and partner with operations leadership to scope new requests. You’ll design and refine data products—dashboards, models, and self-service tools—while iterating on stakeholder feedback. Collaboration with cross-functional teams ensures dataset accuracy and trust, and you’ll continuously improve processes by documenting logic, automating manual tasks, and proactively surfacing recommendations for data-driven decisions.
