SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Business Intelligence Data Analyst is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI reports, dashboards, and analytical datasets that support internal teams and external MSP clients within the contingent workforce ecosystem. This role is highly technical and execution focused, emphasizing Power BI report development, data modeling, SQL, DAX, and analytical problem solving.
Description of Essential Duties and Functions
Report Development, Visualization and Analytics Management 40%
- Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards, paginated reports, and ad hoc analyses for internal stakeholders and MSP clients
- Develop interactive visualizations that clearly communicate trends, exceptions, and insights related to contingent workforce programs
- Optimize report usability through effective layout, drill throughs, tooltips, bookmarks, and performance tuning
- Apply best practices for Power BI semantic models, report governance, and version control
Data Modeling, Transformation & Engineering 30%
- Build and maintain Power BI data models, including star schemas, fact/dimension tables, and calculated tables
- Develop complex DAX measures for workforce analytics such as spend, headcount, tenure, utilization, markups, compliance, and SLA performance
- Perform data ingestion, cleansing, and transformation using Power Query (M)
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, join, and aggregate data from multiple source systems
- Validate data accuracy and reconcile discrepancies across systems and reports
Automation, Tools & Continuous Improvement 10%
- Leverage Power Automate or similar tools to streamline recurring reporting processes
- Apply basic scripting or automation concepts to reduce manual effort and improve data reliability
- Document data sources, transformations, and report logic to support knowledge sharing and auditability
- Stay current with Power BI feature releases and recommend technical improvements
Role Variations (20%)
- If the position requires a Data Analyst with experience in data, system and infrastructure management, candidate requirements and experiences must also include:
- Develop and maintain enterprise Power BI data models using star schemas and dimensional modeling best practices
- Apply medallion architecture concepts (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) within Microsoft Fabric, Azure, or AWS-based data platforms
- Perform advanced data transformation using Power Query (M), SQL, and cloud-based data processing tools
- Validate data integrity across multiple source systems and analytical layers
- Leverage Power Automate, Fabric pipelines, or similar tools to automate data refreshes and reporting workflows
- Work within Microsoft Fabric to support Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, and Semantic Model architectures
- Demonstrate working knowledge of Azure data services such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, and networking/security fundamentals
- Exposure to AWS data environments and multi-cloud analytics strategies
- Collaborate with data engineering and infrastructure teams to align reporting solutions with cloud governance, security, and performance standards
- In depth understanding of VMS tool data structures within Fieldglass, Beeline, VNDLY and other VMS applications

Required Technical Qualifications
- Strong experience developing reports in Power BI (Desktop & Service)
- Advanced proficiency with DAX, including complex measures and time intelligence
- Strong SQL skills (joins, aggregations, subqueries, performance optimization)
- Solid understanding of relational data modeling and analytics best practices
- Experience working with large, complex datasets from multiple sources
- Proficiency with Excel for data analysis and validation
Required Qualifications
- Experience in the contingent workforce, MSP, staffing, or workforce solutions industry
- Familiarity with common workforce metrics (spend, bill rates, tenure, compliance, diversity, supplier performance)
- Exposure to Tableau, Python, or R for analytics
- Basic understanding of machine learning or advanced analytics concepts
- Experience applying Power BI governance and security models
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Solid attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to manage multiple reporting requests and deadlines
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, data driven environment
- Clear written and verbal communication skills focused on explaining data
- Ability to function independently and collaborate as part of a team
- In depth understanding of automation tools such as Power Automate to handle repetitive tasks and functions
