Business Intelligence Architect

About the role

The Business Intelligence Architect at Life is Good is responsible for designing, building, and implementing data-driven solutions that empower decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will design the data foundation, optimize data pipelines, and ensure seamless integration of data sources to create actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Design the data foundation, including pipelines, models, and sources that integrate cleanly for the business to ask new questions without rebuilding the plumbing.
• Connect various SaaS tools like SAP, Shopify, and others to ensure data tells a consistent story.
• Turn raw data into actionable insights through reports, dashboards, and analyses that are accurate, fast, and tailored to the specific question being asked.
• Troubleshoot broken reports and address data-related inquiries in production environments.
• Make self-service data accessible to the business, enabling teams to answer their own questions with the right data and trust in the numbers.
• Partner with leaders to set the BI roadmap, providing informed recommendations on tools, patterns, and investments rather than just opinions.
• Utilize AI as a standard part of the work process to accelerate SQL, modeling, and exploration, ensuring the logic is thoroughly verified before reaching executives.
• Identify patterns in data, usage, and reporting requests to anticipate and address upcoming business needs, turning analysis into compelling stories for leaders.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Proven track record of designing and shipping BI strategies, recognized by colleagues and clients as a go-to resource.
• Hands-on experience with Power BI and Snowflake, with a preference for Tableau or similar BI tools.
• Experience with ETL/ELT tools like Rivery and Fivetran, connecting sources, building pipelines, and troubleshooting data issues.
• Direct experience pulling data from SAP, ECC, or S/4HANA, with knowledge of SAP’s quirks and modern BI stacks.
• Experience with Shopify or marketing/social platforms, and a plus for experience with Salesforce.
• At least 7 years of experience using business intelligence tools to transform raw data into actionable insights, with specific examples of results achieved.
• A certification in Snowflake or Power BI is beneficial.

• Start with the decision, not the dataset. Focus on what changes because of the report, not just which columns are needed.
• Design for trust by ensuring users can explain the origins of numbers and the data is reliable.
• Write SQL and models that others can read and understand, treating data security and privacy as integral parts of the design process.
• Communicate clearly with non-BI professionals, translating business visions into technical decisions and vice versa.

Pay

We use a market-based approach to compensation and conduct bi-annual market reviews. Compensation details are determined based on qualifications, experience, and market conditions.
