About the Role

The Business Analyst specializes in understanding the needs of business owners and operators and translating them into technical and analytical specifications. This position acts as an interface between business owners, operational leaders, and the technology and financial departments. It involves implementing and supporting Enterprise Applications and Analytics within core functional areas such as resort systems (gaming and hospitality) and administrative systems (human resources and finance).

The role requires analysis and presentation of information to business owners and operational leadership, including marketing, hotel, finance, gaming operations, and human resources. Proficiency in developing requirements documents, business knowledge, and strong communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements using interviews, document analysis, critical path, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task, and workflow analysis.
  • Acquire, index, organize, and connect data; create digital dashboards; and provide real-time analytics, including historical data and future forecasts derived from validated research.
  • Provide financial and productivity analytics, budgets, and automated forecasts.
  • Document all processes, procedures, agendas, and minutes for the Operations Development team.
  • Evaluate information from multiple sources, decompose high-level information into details, and distinguish user requests from underlying needs.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with technical teams and business owners to analyze information needs and deliver effective solutions.
  • Develop and document enterprise-wide requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Develop user documentation and conduct training as required.
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions for successful execution.
  • Partake in small or complex application rollouts to single or multi-properties.
  • Participate in QA and release management of new and changed applications through testing, debugging, and user acceptance before deployment.
  • Develop documentation and critical paths for users to install, operate, and support applications.
  • Provide end-user training and post-implementation support and troubleshooting.
  • Analyze problems and escalate issues in a timely manner for quick resolution.
  • Act as a liaison between business units, technology teams, and support teams.
  • Work on multiple high-priority projects concurrently.
  • Employ productivity aids in all aspects of assignments.
  • Maintain and enhance technical skills through formal and on-the-job training.
  • Respond to and assist with other problem tickets as required.
  • Travel for business when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Casino gaming and hospitality background or experience preferred.
  • 5-8 years of related experience as a business analyst or similar position.
  • Expertise in business intelligence performance management software and data visualization tools, including SQL, Tableau, Cognos, and Microsoft SHRSS.
  • Project Management/Coordination practices, techniques, and software expertise.
  • Highly personable with the ability to communicate clearly and build strong relationships across business groups and with IT personnel.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements for IT teams.
  • Stakeholder management, including department leaders, vendors, and consultants.
  • Strong technical background and proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, Outlook).
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact with a diverse range of people, including upper management.
  • Self-sufficient, requiring limited supervision over job knowledge and project completion.

Work Environment

Duties are typically performed in a professional office setting but may require time in operating areas. In these areas, exposure to environmental factors such as secondhand smoke and excessive noise may occur.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle objects, reach with hands and arms, talk, or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
