About the role

This position plans and implements an instructional program and provides related educational services for students in grades 6-8 or 9-12. It manages student behavior, assesses and evaluates student achievement, and modifies instructional activities as needed. Additionally, it carries out various student monitoring and control activities. This position serves as a general education classroom teacher for middle school (grades 6-8) or high school (grades 9-12). Classes taught may be single or multi-grade level, subject, skill, or specialty oriented. Duties are usually performed within a team or departmental setting but may also be carried out independently in a unique teaching specialty.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements an instructional program and provides related educational services for students in grades 6-8 or 9-12.
• Manages student behavior, assesses and evaluates student achievement, and modifies instructional activities as needed.
• Carries out various student monitoring and control activities.
• Serves as a general education classroom teacher for middle school (grades 6-8) or high school (grades 9-12).
• Taught classes may be single or multi-grade level, subject, skill, or specialty oriented.
• Duties are usually performed within a team or departmental setting but may also be carried out independently in a unique teaching specialty.
• May be assigned to science labs, industrial arts/technology labs, or other educational labs where increased monitoring is required to reduce the risk of accidental injury to students.

Requirements

• Master's degree in education or related field from an accredited institution.
• Valid teaching license in the state of employment.
• Experience teaching students in grades 6-8 or 9-12.
• Ability to manage student behavior and assess student achievement.
• Knowledge of educational standards and curriculum development.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
