Business Development - Senior Director
About the role
CBRE’s Investment Accounting & Reporting (IA&R) business is seeking a Senior Director of Business Development to drive sustained growth through expansion of existing client relationships and acquisition of new clients to the IA&R platform. This role is critical to advancing IA&R’s position as a strategic partner to leading Real Estate Investment Managers and Owner/Operators seeking institutional-grade, scalable accounting and data solutions.
The Senior Director will be responsible for generating revenue by deepening existing partnerships and originating new client relationships, positioning IA&R’s end-to-end capabilities across fund and property accounting, data management, and related services. The role requires a senior commercial professional who can engage credibly with investment, finance, and operations leadership and translate complex client needs into differentiated, platform-based solutions.
Responsibilities
- Drive revenue growth through strategic expansion of existing IA&R client relationships, identifying opportunities to increase scope and geographic coverage across the platform.
- Originate and close new client relationships, with a focus on Real Estate Investment Managers and sophisticated Owner/Operators requiring scalable, technology-enabled accounting and reporting services.
- Own the full business development lifecycle, including prospecting, relationship development, solution design, proposal development, and commercial negotiation.
- Partner closely with IA&R leadership, product owners, operations, and client service teams to develop targeted account strategies and ensure commercially viable, executable solutions.
- Clearly articulate IA&R’s value proposition as a portfolio-wide accounting and data platform, enabling complex real estate organizations with global footprints to achieve consistency, transparency, and scalability across assets, funds, and regions.
- Act as a senior external representative for the IA&R platform in client meetings, industry forums, and select conferences.
- Maintain a strong understanding of trends impacting real estate investment and operating platforms, including portfolio scale, data integration, and global operating model evolution.
- Build CBRE market awareness by attending industry conferences and meetings, including proactive establishment of marketing efforts.
- Respond in a timely fashion to RFPs with high-quality proposal materials, working in close partnership with other IA&R colleagues.
- Complete pricing and proposals for new business in partnership with Finance.
- Work with Client Service and Onboarding to identify appropriate client servicing team and assist onboarding process.
- Focus on key initiatives, create business cases for budgets, and reserve investments to align operational units toward common business development goals.
- Significantly impact the design of policies and procedures. Define the direction for products, processes, standards, or business plans based on business strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university and 15+ years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated success driving growth in institutional real estate, investment management, fund administration, accounting, or adjacent professional services environments.
- Established relationships with Real Estate Investment Managers and/or large Owner/Operators, with a track record of converting relationships into long-term, platform-based engagements.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to engage CFOs, COOs, Controllers, Heads of Fund Accounting, and senior investment leadership.
- Experience operating effectively in a matrixed, global organization and influencing across sales, product, and delivery teams.
- Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex business documents.
- Ability to effectively respond to sophisticated inquiries or concerns from clients and colleagues.
- Strong interpersonal abilities, including experience working efficiently across large complex teams.
- Extensive knowledge of financial terms and principles and experience conducting basic financial analysis.
- Ability to interpret multiple sources of data to create threads of opportunity or value creation.
- Independent judgment skills to determine methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for measuring success.
- Proven experience leveraging AI to increase productivity and ensure the highest quality deliverables for clients and prospects.
Pay
The minimum salary for this position is $250,000 annually and the maximum salary is $300,000 annually. The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
