Business Development Sales Associate II
Description
This position will facilitate the sale of value-added outdoor lighting products and services to Residential, Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional customers. They are responsible for supporting customer facing employees engaging in projects that involve outdoor lighting products in an effort to provide top of class customer service and increase net-profit goals for the company. They are responsible for supporting product line questions, billing and rate issues and making recommendations for application of products for designs. They will provide expertise to solve medium complexity problems with a medium level of supervision. They are expected to develop solid skills and the ability to work with a high degree of independence.
This position requires a customer sensitive, team orientated person with a medium level of proven technical and business expertise in inside sales, providing training, and solving technical and billing issues.
Major Accountabilities/Essential Duties
- Support customer facing employees on technology, processes, techniques and approaches to engaging with customers to sell outdoor lighting systems
- Prepares thorough and accurate proposal/contract documentation related to any lighting sales initiative
- Ensures business goals and objectives are accomplished through effective negotiations, communication, and work monitoring
- Be educated in solving customer issues and in the various product groups related to outdoor lighting
- Provide technical advice, information and assistance to internal and external customers
- Maximize sales by understanding competitive positions, profitability, and customers perceived value of the products/services offered
- Work closely with our Engineering & Delivery Team and other customer facing employees to make sure the solution is provided correctly to the customer and a high customer satisfaction rating is achieved
Work environment
Office work required with limited field work. Availability to work on special projects and initiatives as needed. Ability to speak in front of large groups of people.
Travel
5% travel, within service territory in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky
Relations with Others
- External: This position will interface with Residential, Commercial, and Governmental customers.
- Internal: This position will report to the Manager - Midwest OL Sales Manager, and interface with the Manager and Sales Team. Inside Sales and Support Specialist
Major Problems and Challenges
- Achieving increasingly difficult sales / margin results
- Facilitating the targeting the of customers with the greatest opportunity to obtain a sales commitment
- Training large numbers of customer facing employees across large geographical areas
- Personal time management to assure maximum number of customer contacts to fill the sales funnel
- Leveraging resources to obtain leads and close inside sales
- Staying abreast of our technological solutions, such as products and systems
- Closing sales quickly and efficiently
Minimum Qualifications
- Either 4+ years relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business or 6+ years relevant work experience with an Associate’s degree or 10+ plus years relevant work experience without a degree.
- Self-motivated with intensity and urgency
- Personal organization to manage a wide variety of customer opportunities
- Experience working with a wide range of customers, governmental officials to residential customers.
- A demonstrated competency in all types of clear communications: written, verbal and presentations.
- Working knowledge of computerized reporting systems and work management systems
- Basic understanding of rates and tariffs
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in outdoor lighting designs and products
- A working knowledge of energy and distribution services
- Certified Energy Manager, LCDemonstrated ability to lead a diverse team of individuals to meet a common goal and timeline.
- Demonstrated ability to develop skills and become advisor for entire delivery team.
- Topics will include technical and/or business issues.
Pay
$31.00 - $36.00/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment.
