Business Development Associate
Position Summary
The Business Development Analyst will support Ocugen’s business development efforts by providing analytical, financial, and strategic support across potential partnerships, licensing opportunities, and corporate development initiatives. This role is critical to improving the focus, rigor, and credibility of Ocugen’s BD activities by translating data into clear insights and decision-ready materials.
Responsibilities
Support evaluation of external opportunities including licensing, partnerships, and strategic collaborations
Aid in building business cases to inform decision-making on potential deals
Conduct research on target companies, assets, and therapeutic areas relevant to Ocugen’s pipeline
Track and summarize inbound opportunities and BD pipeline activity
Build and maintain financial models (NPV, valuation scenarios, deal structures) in Excel
Support development of forecasts, market models, and commercial assumptions
Analyze deal terms and benchmark against comparable transactions
Conduct market, competitive, and landscape analyses across gene therapy and ophthalmology
Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and relevant transactions
Synthesize findings into clear insights for leadership
Create high-quality PowerPoint presentations for internal decision-making and external discussions
Translate complex analyses into clear, concise, and compelling materials for executive audiences
Support preparation of materials for BD meetings, partnering discussions, and board updates
Work closely with Clinical, Regulatory, CMC, Commercial, and Finance teams to gather inputs for BD evaluations
Assist in preparation for external meetings with potential partners
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; degree in life sciences, finance, or business preferred
1–3 years of experience in biotech, pharma, consulting, banking, or a related analytical role
Exceptional proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint (required)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to small groups
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure
High level of professionalism, curiosity, and ownership
