Business Banker Agriculture

About the role

As a Business Banker Agriculture at First Citizens Bank, you will develop and expand relationships with business owners in your community to help them meet their financial goals. You will focus on agriculture-related businesses with annual revenues between $1–$10MM, serving as the primary contact for borrowing needs and providing expertise in deposit and cash flow management. You will collaborate with internal partners to build and manage full banking relationships.

Responsibilities

• Achieve individual and/or team financial, production, and relationship goals aligned with assigned metrics and community needs, supporting diverse lending initiatives.
• Engage with customers, prospects, and referral sources through proactive outreach and represent the Bank at civic and community events to generate business and identify CRA opportunities.
• Conduct value-driven sales conversations that provide relevant financial guidance and drive informed customer decisions.
• Foster collaborative partnerships to uncover sales or referral opportunities, address customer needs, and optimize performance through coaching and Bank initiatives.
• Comply with all regulations, policies, and delegated authorities to manage risk related to credit, operations, reputation, and legal exposures.
• Complete required training by deadlines and perform general office management duties to ensure operational efficiency.
• Ensure transaction accuracy and operational efficiency for deposit-related functions, contributing to individual and team performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience or High School Diploma/GED and 8 years of experience in commercial/business lending, credit, or business development in the agriculture industry.
• Valid driver’s license with frequent travel to offices and customer locations (bank car not provided).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience in commercial/business lending, credit, or business development in the agriculture industry or High School Diploma/GED and 8 years of equivalent experience.
• Business development experience.
• Knowledge of credit, finance, marketing, and economics of agriculture business.
• Established Centers of Influence (COIs) and referral sources.
• Financial analysis and credit underwriting skills.
• Knowledge of business lending, deposit, and cash management solutions.
• Sales planning and forecasting experience.

Skills

• Knowledge of retail and wealth solutions.
• Understanding of agriculture markets.
