About the role

As the Business Affairs Associate I, you will review, negotiate, and draft business terms, and manage agreements with domestic and international licensees for our Consumer Products team. This role focuses on extending Crunchyroll’s anime brands into physical and digital products and experiences.

  • Strategically negotiate and review agreements, balancing financial terms, legal risks, and business risks.
  • Partner with the Consumer Products Group, Legal, Finance, and other global stakeholders to license merchandising rights.
  • Draft and negotiate merchandise licensing agreements with domestic and international licensees.
  • Ensure negotiated terms and requirements are reflected in agreements and that licensee activities align with IP holder approvals.
  • Escalate unusual or high-risk provisions to internal departments, including Consumer Products, Content, Legal, Finance, and international affiliates.
  • Maintain an organized system for tracking deal terms and update negotiation statuses in internal tracking systems.
  • Provide general business affairs support in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Document, innovate, and adapt standard operating procedures continually.

This role reports to the VP, Business Affairs and is based in Los Angeles, CA.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of licensing and business affairs experience in an international setup, preferably in animation, entertainment, consumer products, content licensing, or video games.
  • Experience drafting deal terms and interpreting licensing agreements.
  • Experience negotiating rights and analyzing risk in business affairs contracts and licenses.
  • Experience managing licensing content and IPs.
  • Project management experience and familiarity with related tools.
  • Passion for anime, Japanese culture, and the entertainment industry, with an understanding of Japanese business culture.

About the team

As part of Crunchyroll’s Content organization, the Business Affairs team supports the Content Acquisition team on acquisition deals, providing consultation on deal strategies, negotiations, and rights clearance. The team collaborates with other departments to manage financial, legal, and business risks.

Pay

Los Angeles, CA: $38.17—$40.86 USD per hour. Actual pay varies based on location, experience, and performance. This range is one component of Crunchyroll’s total rewards offerings.
