Bus/Van Monitor Year Round/Multiple Positions

Qualifications

• Ability to work with others
• Ability to assume responsibility for supervising students
• Ability to read and write, to understand verbal instructions, and to communicate with fellow employees, students, and Director of Transportation

Responsibilities

• Aids the driver in maintaining appropriate student conduct on the bus or van
• Aids young or disabled students with getting on and off the bus or van; operates chair lift; assists students in crossing streets; assist with seat belts and harnesses where appropriate
• Affirms that students get on and off the bus or van in an orderly fashion
• Aids the driver with disciplinary problems
• Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities that may be assigned

Physical Demands

• Frequently sits, stands, climbs stairs, lifts (ranging from 25-75 lbs depending on student size), bends, pulls, pushes, walks, kneels, crouches, and performs other physical tasks that may be required from time to time

Terms of Employment

• Hourly
• Work round and working conditions to be established by the RSU 57 School Board

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation.
