Bus Paraprofessional
About the role
This position assists the bus driver in providing safe, efficient, courteous, and customer-centered transportation for special needs students. Duties include assisting with emergency evacuations, managing student behavior, and performing various physical tasks.
Responsibilities

- Provide a warm and caring attitude towards students
- Recognize and address safety issues
- Supervise students on a daily basis
- Work independently without direct supervision
- Perform nonviolent crisis intervention techniques
- Provide initial first aid/emergency care when needed
- Perform physical tasks such as wiping noses and chins, cleaning/disinfecting, and securing wheelchairs
- Operate and maneuver wheelchairs and secure wheelchairs for transportation
- Monitor and enforce student behavior
- Supervise loading and unloading of buses
- Support the student personnel evaluation team
Requirements
The incumbent must have a high school diploma or equivalent. First Aid/CPR certification is preferred but not required.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to the education of students.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $19.45-20.42 per hour.
Schedule
The position is full-time, working 20 hours per day, 4 days per week, for 171 days per year.
