About the role
The Bus Operations Supervisor plays a vital leadership role in ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused transportation operations. This position oversees the daily performance of the transportation division, with responsibility for staff leadership, safety compliance, operational excellence, and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support all transportation staff, including scheduling, delegating responsibilities, coaching, performance monitoring, and progressive discipline, ensuring compliance with company standards and policies.
- Lead, implement, and reinforce all safety initiatives, including conducting driver assessments, ride-along, and providing constructive feedback on safe driving techniques and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state/provincial, and local transportation regulations and company operating procedures.
- Oversee daily operations in a fast-paced, multitasking environment, responding effectively to operational challenges as they arise.
- Maintain professional, consistent communication with guests, clients, drivers, dispatchers, customer service representatives, and management at all times.
- Respond immediately to accidents, incidents, service disruptions, or safety concerns, ensuring proper mitigation and communication.
- Accurately complete, review, and submit Incident Reports, investigations, and documentation in accordance with prescribed protocols.
- May be required to periodically step in and support frontline operations, including covering shifts or assisting Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) and Dispatchers to maintain service continuity.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Previous supervisory or management experience in transportation, logistics, transit, or a related field strongly preferred
- Valid driver’s license; CDL or equivalent preferred (or willingness to obtain, if applicable)
- Knowledge of transportation safety standards, regulations, and best practices
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require
- Ability to pass all required background checks, drug screenings, and motor vehicle record reviews
