About the role

The Muscogee County School District seeks qualified candidates for Bus Driver Trainee and Bus Driver positions.

Responsibilities

  • Transporting students over scheduled routes to or from assigned education centers or special excursions.
  • Ensuring vehicle operation is in safe operating condition.
  • Ensuring safety of students during transport, loading, and unloading from buses.
  • Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance for all scheduled training classes.
  • In accordance with Pupil Transportation, Georgia Department of Education and Department of Transportation, successfully complete classroom training, train on the Bus without students, complete and pass road test on MCSD buses, and train on the Bus with students.
  • Presents professional appearance.
  • Operates wheelchair lift and secures door on lift during transport.
  • Performs necessary tie downs for wheelchairs and seat security devises for students.
  • Assesses incidents, complaints, accidents, and/or potential emergency situations to determine a resolution and/or recommending a resolution to the situation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.

Requirements

  • Educational Level: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Certification/License Requirement: Valid Driver’s License. Must pass written examination for Commercial Driver’s License and obtain ‘S’ (School Bus) and ‘P’ (Passenger) Endorsements upon completion of Bus Driver Training.
  • Experience: At least 21 years old, at least three years regular driving experience, and commercial driving experience preferred. Must have a good driving history.
  • Physical Activities: Routine physical activities required.
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and oral communication skills; ability to complete pre-employment and annual physical examinations; must successfully complete Bus Driver Training Program.

Qualifications

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • ‘S’ (School Bus) and ‘P’ (Passenger) Endorsements upon completion of Bus Driver Training.
  • Three years regular driving experience; commercial driving experience preferred.
  • Able to meet DOT physical requirements for bus driver.

Pay

  • $15.00 hourly – Training
  • $19.44 hourly – Bus Driver

Schedule

  • Training: As Needed
  • Bus Driver: 186/5 hours daily
