Bus Driver SY 2026-2027

Responsibilities and Duties

• Safe Transportation
• Transport students to and from school, field trips, sporting events, and other off-campus activities.
• Follow a planned route and schedule, adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
• Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus.
• Ensure the safety of all students while on the bus.
• Student Management
• Assist students with getting on and off the bus, including those with disabilities.
• Verify permissions for students riding home with friends.
• Maintain discipline and a safe environment on the bus.
• Vehicle Maintenance
• Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route.
• Report any mechanical issues or concerns to the appropriate authorities.
• Professional Conduct
• Obey all traffic laws and regulations.
• Attend safety meetings and training as required.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and interact positively with students and parents.

Requirements

• Possess a current MS driver's license and Commercial Driver's License Class B with a school bus endorsement.
• Meet specific physical, hearing, and vision requirements as outlined by the Mississippi Department of Education, including passing annual physical examinations.
• Pass a background check.
• Successfully pass pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing throughout employment.
• High School diploma or its equivalent.
