Bus Driver (Part Time)

About the role

The Summit Area YMCA is seeking a dependable, safety‑minded, and kid‑friendly School Bus Driver to transport children in our child care and camp programs between schools, YMCA locations, and activity sites. This role is essential in creating a safe, welcoming, and fun experience for youth participants. If you are interested in more hours, the position can be upgraded to full‑time by working in another department during non‑driving hours (e.g., childcare, membership services, aquatics, maintenance).

Requirements

• Current NJ Commercial Driver’s License with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements (or willingness to obtain them).
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Prior experience driving a school bus.
• Ability to relate well to children and adults.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Friendly, approachable personality and a commitment to safety.

Pay

$25 – $35 per hour, based on experience.

Schedule

Up to 25 hours per week. Current bus driver hours are Monday – Friday:

• 7:00 am – 9:00 am
• 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
• 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Additional hours may be available in other YMCA departments, potentially converting the role to full‑time with benefits.
