Bus Driver

About the role

The Bus Driver is responsible for operating a lift-equipped, 15- or 18-passenger midsized shuttle bus to transport older adults to the Senior Center, shopping destinations, medical appointments, banking, essential errands, and various special trips.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate trip records and logs
• Perform vehicle inspections
• Report mechanical issues to Highway Department mechanics
• Keep the vehicle clean and properly maintained according to the established schedule
• Follow all transportation policies

Qualifications

• Valid Rhode Island driver’s license with passenger endorsement and a satisfactory driving record
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred but not required
• Ability to work effectively with older adults and the general public
• Ability to monitor vehicle performance and follow scheduled maintenance requirements
• Ability to work cooperatively with Highway Department mechanics on vehicle upkeep and repairs
• Ability to safely operate a passenger vehicle and follow a flexible schedule
• CPR/First Aid certification required within 6 months of hire

Pay

$19.51–$22.75 per hour

Schedule

25-hour work week; days are negotiable
