About the Role

The Bus Driver provides safe, reliable transportation service for the facility and supports various campus activities. Retirees and school bus drivers are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, timely transportation of clients to and from the facility.
  • Transport residents to and from scheduled field trip outings, including planning routes for destinations.
  • Maintain bus systems prior to all field trip excursions.
  • Demonstrate professional and courteous conduct with residents, family members, visitors, physicians, co-workers, and others.
  • Assist supervisory staff with the orientation and training of new employees as assigned.
  • Maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Adhere to DOT alcohol and controlled substances policy, including pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • Abide by all Minnesota traffic laws and practice safe, defensive driving techniques.
  • Comply with facility rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent driving record.
  • Current commercial driver’s license (CDL) – Class B.
  • Compliance with DOT requirements, including drug testing.
  • Experience working with seniors.
  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to complete.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to frequently perform tasks such as:

  • Bend, squat to ground to pick up debris, adjust wheelchairs, walkers, etc.
  • Discriminate colors to read traffic lights and traffic signs.
  • Visual acuity of at least 20/40 in each eye, with or without corrective lenses.

Must be able to continuously perform tasks such as:

  • Move, push, pull, and/or lift objects weighing 10–25 pounds.
  • Use hands, arms, and legs for pushing wheelchairs, safe assisted transfers, and simple grasping.
  • Walk, stoop, bend, lift, and carry objects.
  • Walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods.
  • Speak clearly and be understood in face-to-face interactions.
  • See objects closely to read directions, instructions, and identify traffic signals.
  • Hear normal sounds and voices with some background noise to receive verbal instructions and communicate.

Environment

Works indoors and outdoors in all four seasons.

Schedule

Casual – as needed for events.
