About the Role

As a Bus Driver, you will transport students to and from designated stops while maintaining a safe environment and in accordance with the policies set by Charter Schools USA. You will exercise maximum regard for the safety and welfare of all transported students while operating a school bus. You will work closely with Transportation Services and the school principals regarding hazards encountered on bus routes. You will inform Transportation Services regarding any suggested changes in route schedules or bus loads. You will assist other school bus drivers with their routes in cases of emergencies. You will obey all traffic laws. You will complete and submit to Transportation Services all required reports and information in accordance with the policy of Charter Schools USA.

Responsibilities

• Exercise maximum regard for the safety and welfare of all transported students while operating a school bus.
• Work closely with Transportation Services and the school principals regarding hazards encountered on bus routes.
• Inform Transportation Services regarding any suggested changes in route schedules or bus loads.
• Assist other school bus drivers with their routes in cases of emergencies.
• Owe all traffic laws.
• Complete and submit to Transportation Services all required reports and information in accordance with the policy of Charter Schools USA.
• Possess the physical and mental capability of operating all school buses assigned to the Transportation fleet.
• Address and assist with student discipline problems, aided by the school administration and Transportation Services.
• Facilitate a feeling of safety and security to transported students.
• Manage students in a positive and effective way.
• Comply with Regulations and Policies pertaining to school bus driver certification and responsibility.
• Attend assigned workshops and training programs.
• Submit to Drug and/or Alcohol testing when required by School Board, State, and/or Federal policy.

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or equivalent or Florida Special Diploma.
• Experience as a school bus driver or driver of other large vehicles.
• A valid Florida Commercial Driver License Class B with Passenger and S Endorsements and verification of an acceptable driving record through the State Department of Motor Vehicles.

Qualifications

• No citations for driving under the influence, lifetime.
• No falsification of accident reports, lifetime.
• No citations for passing a stopped school bus within the last five (5) years.
• No loss of or suspension of driver's license for traffic related offenses/violations of F.S.S. 316 within the last three (3) years or for multiple non-traffic related offenses.
• No more than two (2) moving violations including adjudication withheld, for moving violations within the last five (5) years.
• No speeding in excess of twenty-one (21) miles per hour over posted speed limit within the last five (5) years.

• Compliance with Regulations and Policies pertaining to school bus driver certification and responsibility.
