About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Instruct members in the safe and proper methods of boarding and departing from the bus.
  • Monitor the operating condition of the bus and report needed servicing or repairs.
  • Keep the bus free of litter and trash.
  • Comply with Missouri State laws, rules, and regulations, as well as Boys & Girls Club policies relative to transportation.
  • Communicate with the Railton Center Unit Director & Director of Operations for daily duties, planned duties, and emergencies.
  • Drive the club bus or passenger vans to transport club members, ensuring safe travel.
  • Maintain the condition of the bus and keep a daily vehicle log while staying on established routes and schedules.
  • Transport members on planned field trips and attend necessary meetings and trainings.
  • Supervise children and enforce Boys & Girls Club Rules.
  • Ensure children obey safety rules and all children are accounted for.
  • Arrive at collection points prior to departure times.
  • Ensure adherence to passenger limits and avoid high-traffic or accident-prone routes where possible.
  • Record and report all accidents and incidents to your supervisor.
  • Prepare special reports as needed and attend training programs, testing programs, first aid courses, refresher courses, and other meetings as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid CDL with School Bus Endorsement.
  • Ability to work both afternoon and evening hours (Monday – Friday, 2-5:30 PM, occasional additional hours for events).
  • Ability to be a positive role model and establish rapport with children.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Previous experience driving groups of people.
  • Outstanding knowledge of applicable transport and safety codes.
  • Excellent route planning abilities.
  • Working knowledge of pertinent vehicle maintenance and restoration techniques.
  • Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must pass agency background check and pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must pass the health and employment requirements set by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and policy manuals.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely exchange or receive ideas, facts, and technical information with others.
  • Ability to visually monitor activities of club members and road conditions.
  • Ability to perform CPR or first aid.
  • Ability to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle daily.
  • May occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds.

Pay

Pay Rate: $20-$25 per hour

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 2-5:30 PM. Occasional additional hours outside this range for events.
