Bus Attendants and Drivers

Job Summary

The Pittsfield Public School District is seeking applicants for Bus Drivers and Bus Attendants. **Bus Driver starting rate is $26.65 /hr. 7D Drivers starting rate is $24.00 /hr. Bus Attendant starting rate is $21.00/hr.** Typical hours are 6:15 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Benefits include health insurance and retirement plan, daily and year end incentive bonuses and vacation pay after first full year of work.

Responsibilities

• Operate school buses safely and efficiently
• Ensure students are seated and buckled up before departure
• Monitor students during transportation to ensure safety and order
• Unload students at designated locations and assist with unloading luggage
• Perform routine maintenance checks on buses
• Follow all safety protocols and emergency procedures

Requirements

• Valid Massachusetts driver’s license
• Passing score on a background check
• Current CPR and First Aid certification

Qualifications

• Experience driving school buses preferred
• Good communication and customer service skills

Skills

• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to handle stress and remain calm in emergency situations
• Physical stamina for long periods of standing and walking
