Bus Assistant
Responsibilities
- Aid students in entering or exiting the bus safely.
- Show highest ethical standards and personal integrity; report any suspicious or inappropriate behavior to supervisor or manager.
- Secure students using seat belts, car seats, or wheelchair restraints as needed.
- Maintain safety and follow student conduct rules during transportation.
- Document and report any violations or concerns to appropriate authorities.
- Ensure students take their belongings when leaving the bus.
- Help the driver keep the vehicle clean and presentable.
- Complete required paperwork and submit it promptly.
- Behave professionally and promote company goodwill.
- Report to duty on time and perform tasks safely.
- Attend all assigned training, safety meetings, and in-service meetings.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old; 19 years old in New York for School Bus Assistants.
- Meet physical and medical requirements.
- Pass all training and safety meetings to remain qualified.
- Have a high attention to detail and dexterity to handle various restraints.
- Be able to relate to and work well with children.
- Have strong professionalism, diplomacy, and communication skills.
- Ability to lift and assist students as necessary.
