Essential Job Functions
- Aids students with boarding and exiting the bus.
- Utilizes appropriate safety equipment.
- Supports driver in managing student behavior.
- Enforces individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Performs record-keeping as needed.
- Assists with field trips as required.
- Constructs, copies, and distributes educational materials.
- Participates in Individualized Education Program (IEP) processes.
- Maintains compliance with safety rules and regulations.
Additional Duties
- Supports guidance, pupil services staff, or building administration.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Equipment Use
- Standard office equipment (personal computers, copiers).
- Special needs safety and loading equipment.
Travel Requirements
- May travel between schools or between schools and central offices.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Ability to follow instructions and perform arithmetic operations.
- Proficiency in using personal computers and software applications.
- Ability to work with diverse groups and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to establish supportive relationships with students and staff.
- Effective communication and writing skills.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
- Works in a bus environment.
- Provides behavior interventions and administers student restraint if necessary.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of college-level coursework or passing of examinations as required by the No Child Left Behind Act (as needed).
- Prior experience working with special needs children preferred.
