Burn Occupational Therapy Assistant - COTA PRN
About the Role
Doctors Hospital of Augusta, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our Burn Therapy team on a PRN basis. Under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA will provide treatment interventions designed to improve functional outcomes, promote independence, and support recovery for patients with burn injuries and related conditions.
The ideal candidate is passionate about patient-centered care, possesses strong clinical skills, and enjoys working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to burn rehabilitation and wound recovery.
Responsibilities
- Implement occupational therapy treatment plans established by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Assist patients in developing and restoring functional skills related to activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, strength, endurance, and independence.
- Participate in burn rehabilitation interventions, including range of motion exercises, positioning, splinting, scar management, and functional retraining as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Monitor patient response to treatment and communicate progress, concerns, and recommendations to the Occupational Therapist.
- Document patient treatments and progress accurately and timely in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Educate patients and family members regarding therapeutic techniques, home exercise programs, adaptive equipment, and safety recommendations.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain equipment and treatment areas in a safe and organized condition.
Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Requirements
- Associate Degree as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA).
