Position Summary

The Burn Clinical Specialist (BCS) serves as the patient-focused clinical expert for Vericel's Burn Care portfolio, providing comprehensive clinical support, surgical case management, and customer education to Burn Centers throughout an assigned geography. The BCS partners closely with healthcare professionals to ensure the safe, effective, and appropriate use of Vericel's Burn Care products with the shared objective of optimizing patient outcomes.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Serve as the clinical expert supporting customer engagement activities in partnership with the Burn Care Account Manager. Develop and execute customized clinical education programs for targeted Burn Centers to advance product knowledge, clinical competency, and appropriate utilization of Vericel Burn Care products.

  • Execute clinical education initiatives for priority accounts that increase clinical confidence, product utilization, and customer engagement. Conduct onboarding and ongoing education for Burn Center personnel as clinical needs evolve.

  • Deliver portfolio education to physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs), nurses, PT/OT, surgical staff, and other healthcare professionals on: Epicel® (cultured epidermal autografts), NexoBrid® (anacaulase-bcdb), appropriate product selection and clinical application, surgical procedures, treatment protocols, and best practices, product preparation, handling, and supporting supplies.

  • Provide procedural guidance, case consultation, troubleshooting, and post-operative support. Foster trusted clinical partnerships that increase awareness, confidence, and appropriate utilization of Vericel Burn Care products.

  • Maintain current clinical expertise in burn care, Vericel products, and evolving treatment practices.

  • Provide comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative clinical support for patients receiving Vericel Burn Care products. Coordinate patient-focused case planning activities with Burn Center teams to ensure product readiness and successful case execution.

  • Collaborate with internal partners regarding product forecasting, patient assessments, graft requirements, scheduling, and case logistics. Support customers before, during, and after procedures to promote successful clinical outcomes and a positive customer experience.

  • Partner closely with Account Managers, Marketing, Medical Affairs, and other cross-functional teams to support business objectives. Identify and communicate customer needs, clinical insights, competitive intelligence, product observations, and business opportunities. Support account growth by expanding clinical awareness and appropriate product utilization through ongoing customer engagement.

  • Contribute clinical insights that help inform account strategy, customer engagement, Medical Affairs, and Commercial initiatives. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of customer interactions and activities within the CRM system.

  • Partner with the aligned Burn Care Account Manager to execute an integrated account strategy focused on clinical excellence, customer engagement, and appropriate product utilization. Follow direction of Account Manager to execute sales business plan established collaboratively and approved by RSD. Strategically collaborate with the aligned Burn Account Manager to maintain a consistent and visible clinical presence within assigned Burn Centers. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of five years of clinical experience caring for patients with severe burns, trauma, wound care, critical care, surgery, or related specialties.

  • Experience supporting operating room procedures and working within hospital environments.

  • Demonstrated passion for improving patient outcomes and expanding patient access to advanced therapies.

  • Strong clinical and scientific knowledge of burn care or complex wound management.

  • Ability to quickly establish credibility and become a trusted clinical advisor with physicians, surgeons, nurses, and multidisciplinary Burn Center teams.

  • Excellent presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and maintaining advanced clinical and technical expertise in Vericel products and burn care practices.

  • Confidently educates healthcare professionals using evidence-based clinical data and best practices.

Working Conditions

  • Extensive travel (approximately 75% or greater) is required, including frequent day and overnight travel.

  • Weekend and holiday travel may be required based on patient demand and surgical case schedules.

  • Travel may expand beyond the assigned geography to support high-volume case activity and business needs.

  • Able to work in hospital operating rooms, burn units, intensive care units, and other clinical environments.

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods during surgical procedures.

  • Must be able to transport clinical education materials and equipment as needed.

  • Occasional evening work may be required to support surgical cases or customer education activities.
