Safety and Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a forklift (sit down and stand up)
- Perform required daily inspections
- Obtain samples from railcars and trucks, efficiently unload product, keeping waste to a minimum
- Fill in as a bulk machine operator/sewing 50lb bags of product
- Properly weigh, tag, and store product bins and totes
- When necessary, follow proper confined space procedures when obtaining railcar samples and cleaning
- Clean pits and all other unloading areas according to SQF guidelines
- Read and understand Bills of Lading and Pick Sheets
- Unload railcars and semi-trucks
- Pick full and partial pallets, wrap pallets when necessary, stage product for loading, check pallets for accuracy to order
- Maintain clean and organized aisles and rack storage, and consolidate partial pallets when needed
- Inventory product as needed; label, sort, wrap, and tie product
- Communicate with management and maintenance personnel on a timely basis to facilitate maintenance and repairs
- Comply with company safety policies and maintain a clean and orderly work area
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures, including timely and accurate documentation of required SQF forms
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic computer skills, including touchscreen
- Recent forklift experience
- Driver License in good standing
Skills
- Forklift Certification
- Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Ability to work well with all levels of employees, whether individually or in a team environment
- Ability to perform basic math skills
- Effectively communicate questions, problems, and reports to co-workers, supervisory, and management personnel
- Flexibility to accommodate unscheduled changes in duties and work overtime as needed
