Bulk Clerk

About the role

At Sprouts Farmers Market, a Bulk Clerk is responsible for the maintenance, packing, and stocking of all bulk foods featured at Sprouts. This role involves following the merchandising Bulk plan by properly packaging and scaling bulk items, filling bulk bins, and preparing, wrapping, and pricing bulk packages accurately and legibly. The Bulk Clerk rotates product using code dates, adheres to the company’s cleaning and sanitation program, and ensures the Bulk area remains clean at all times.

The Bulk Clerk provides a high level of customer service, assists the Bulk Manager as needed, and maintains all equipment in safe working condition. This role also includes receiving, unloading, and stocking merchandise throughout the day. Team Members under the age of 18 will be restricted from specific tasks, including using knives (other than safety cutters), ladders, operating garbage or cardboard compactors, motor/electronically powered equipment (including manual pallet jacks), and working in coolers or freezers for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, pack, and stock all bulk foods
• Follow merchandising Bulk plan by packaging and scaling bulk items
• Fill bulk bins and prepare, wrap, and price bulk packages accurately
• Rotate product using code dates
• Follow company’s cleaning and sanitation program
• Ensure cleanliness of the Bulk area at all times
• Provide high-level customer service
• Assist the Bulk Manager as needed
• Maintain equipment in safe working condition
• Receive, unload, and stock merchandise as needed
• Adhere to all safety, health, OSHA, and Weights and Measures regulations
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Be at least 16 years of age
• Dependable and reliable with the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Mutual respect for others and maintenance of a high-level code of ethics within Sprouts’ culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Positive attitude and ability to interact with customers
• Good communication skills and ability to take direction and participate in a team environment
• Ability to perform repetitious activities, multi-task, prioritize, and stay organized
• Ability to vertically/horizontally transfer product weighing up to 50 lbs., from 4” to 36”, for a distance up to 4 feet for up to 15 hours without mechanical assistance
