Bulk Clerk
About the role
At Sprouts Farmers Market, a Bulk Clerk is responsible for the maintenance, packing, and stocking of all bulk foods featured at Sprouts. The Bulk Clerk follows the merchandising Bulk plan by properly packaging and scaling bulk items, filling bulk bins, and preparing, wrapping, and pricing bulk packages accurately and legibly. The role includes rotating product using code dates, adhering to the company’s cleaning and sanitation program, and ensuring the Bulk area remains clean at all times.
The Bulk Clerk provides a high level of customer service, assists the Bulk Manager as needed, and maintains all equipment in safe working condition. This role also involves receiving, unloading, and stocking merchandise throughout the day.
Team Members under the age of 18 will be restricted from the following tasks:
- Using a knife (other than safety cutters)
- Using a ladder
- Operating garbage or cardboard compactor
- Operating any motor/electronically powered equipment (including manual pallet jacks)
- Working in coolers or freezers for prolonged periods of time
Responsibilities
- Maintain, pack, and stock all bulk foods
- Follow merchandising Bulk plan by packaging, scaling, and pricing bulk items accurately
- Fill bulk bins and prepare bulk packages
- Rotate product using code dates
- Follow company’s cleaning and sanitation program
- Provide high-level customer service
- Ensure cleanliness of the Bulk area at all times
- Assist Bulk Manager as needed
- Maintain equipment in safe working condition
- Receive, unload, and stock merchandise as needed
Requirements
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Dependable and reliable with the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Mutual respect for others and maintenance of high-level ethics within Sprouts' culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Positive attitude and ability to interact with customers
- Good communication skills and ability to take direction and work in a team environment
- Ability to perform repetitious activities, multi-task, prioritize, and stay organized
- Ability to vertically/horizontally transfer product weighing up to 50 lbs., from 4” to 36”, for a distance up to 4 feet for up to 15 hours without mechanical assistance
- Adhere to all safety, health, OSHA, and Weights and Measures regulations
