Building Trade/Construction Occupation Trades Teacher - Correction Ed. (Carpentry) - SCI Phoenix

Description of Work

This position plays an important part in helping inmate students learn useful carpentry and construction trade skills that can support their futures. As a Building Trade/Construction Occupation Trades Teacher - Correction Education (Carpentry), you will perform the following duties:

• Curriculum Adaptation: Adapt lesson materials based on student assessments and learning needs
• Classroom Instruction: Provide instruction in carpentry and related construction trades while assigning and evaluating classwork
• Student Assessment: Develop and administer quizzes, tests, and final evaluations to track student progress
• Record Maintenance: Update and maintain student education, attendance, payroll, and inventory records
• Tool Oversight: Monitor all tools and materials, reporting missing items and ensuring safe and orderly use
• Classroom Management: Maintain a productive learning environment by setting clear rules and applying corrective actions when needed

Qualifications Required

• Education equivalent to high school graduation and two years wage earning experience beyond the completed apprenticeship period in the specified parenthetical; or if there is no approved apprenticeship period for the specified parenthetical, education equivalent to high school graduation and three years of wage earning experience in the specified parenthetical.
• You must have possession of or eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Certificate I or II for the specified parenthetical; or you must have possession of or eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Intern Certificate for the specified parenthetical; or you must be eligible for a Pennsylvania Department of Education Emergency Certificate for the specified parenthetical.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must meet the PA residency requirement.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Special Requirements

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
