Building Substitute Teacher

ACCEL Schools is hiring a highly qualified Building Substitute Teacher at Foundation Academy of Mansfield in Mansfield, Ohio. The award‑winning public charter school serves EK‑8th grade students and offers a rigorous college‑prep curriculum, Career Technical Education, STEM, and music programs. The campus features a vibrant community with activities, clubs, and sports, and is supported by an engaged Board of Trustees.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as needed throughout the school year.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
• Utilize research‑based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
• Manage student behavior and create a positive classroom environment.
• Implement school‑approved curricula that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
• Implement school‑wide culture expectations and norms.
• Communicate and meet with families regarding academic and social‑emotional growth.
• Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
• Participate in planning and implementation of non‑instructional activities as needed.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Active and current Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
• Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
• Experience working within an urban environment.

Qualifications

• Comfort working in a growth‑focused coaching environment with frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage confidential information properly.
• Capability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings (playground, cafeteria, etc.).

Pay

The salary range for this position is $40,500 – $50,000, with the exact starting pay dependent on geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.
