About the role
The Building Services Worker Lead is a key position within Facilities Management Division’s Building Services unit. Reporting directly to a Manager, this position will be responsible for day-to-day management of custodial operations within an assigned building or collection of buildings.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct the custodial operations, for a crew of approx. 6 – 10 employees of an assigned building or collection of buildings.
- Provide emergency support as needed.
- Directs the custodial cleaning and operations (includes light bulb maintenance accessible from 8’ ladders).
- Focuses on team performance, employee development, employee performance, overall work results.
- Ensure the quality of stakeholder experience and satisfaction.
- Ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
- Reviews work assignments, priorities, service programs, procedures, routines.
- Stay current on professional best practices.
- Employee development:
- Collaborate with manager, senior leadership and FMD HR for employee relation concerns.
- Monitor, coach, and mentor employee performance through discussion, weekly / monthly / annual performance review and discussion.
- With assistance of the Training Group, provide training in custodial operations and other work place related safety.
- Stewardship of the resources:
- Oversee ordering, stock, and use: supplies, materials, cleaning chemicals within assigned area.
- Ensures custodial equipment is used and maintained properly.
- Oversee and manage employee’s routines and time in the most efficient manner.
- Foster and maintain relationships with stakeholders:
- Met regularly with stakeholders.
- Resolve issues when arise.
- Establish and ensure expectations are being met.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience.
- Preferred: Preferred qualifications.
Skills
- Thorough knowledge of custodial supplies & materials, cleaning equipment, products, techniques and industry standard.
- Thorough knowledge of the operation and care of custodial equipment, tools, and supplies common to the care of large facilities and campuses.
- Knowledge in coordinating, scheduling, and supervising work activities and others.
- Excellent leadership skills that promote employee development and accountability.
- Identify and implement changes to increase efficiencies.
- Type and be computer literate in the use of all Microsoft Office applications, proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and quickly adaptable on all internal UGA computer systems.
